EANMAT, the East African Network for Monitoring Anti-malarial Treatment is a regional body operating
under the ministries of health for Kenya,
Uganda, Tanzania mainland, Zanzibar Island, Rwanda and Burundi.
EANMAT's aims are:
- To detect, map and monitor the sensitivity of
P. falciparum to
various anti-malarial drugs in East Africa using standardised
methods.
- To identify factors enhancing the emergence of rapid spread of
resistance to anti-malarial drugs in the sub-region.
- To detect and characterise drug resistance genotypes of
P. falciparum within the sub-region.
-
To ensure quality-assured monitoring and constant harmonisation
of new standards of efficacy testing of more complex drugs using
revised WHO day 28-minimun evaluation criteria
We wish to provide information to the scientific community interested
in malaria control and specifically those interested in
anti-malarial drug policy within the Eastern Africa region and beyond.
